Excite News - Obama signs 'don't ask, don't tell' repeal
The same lack of intelligence might apply today when observing actions by the usual do-gooders in Washington who 'know not what they are doing!'
Most of those casting their votes to adopt this new military policy wouldn't know the difference of the butt end of an M-16 from a French-laced doily protecting their antique Congressional office coffee tables. Despite recommendations from top Military leaders advising against using our government forces as a social learning experiment, they once again displayed just how little they know about how real people in this country actually live their day to day lives.
No one, including myself (a veteran), believes anyone serving their country should be victim of discrimination, but when you pass 'fuzzy feeling' pieces of legislation such as this, you are not only jeopardizing lives of people on the front lines, but the very fabric of an organization committed to acting as one, and depending on those watching their backs.
These 'I know better than you' legislators have no idea of how this military mechanism works. Some guy from the Ozark hills of Missouri may not be quite as acceptable of his gay San Franciscan comrade's lifestyle. Tolerance levels cannot be dictated by any law passed by a hand-full of snobbish elites who naively believe everything will just work out fine now, merely by us making it so, through passage of equally naive legislation.
Only a matter of time before we begin reading news reports (the few allowed to see light of day) of crimes against openly gay individuals serving in our military.
Thanks again to wisdom of political leaders bent on destroying this once-great country, the former United States of America.

Should be a rather interesting ceremony......
UPDATE 2-Venezuela bank law makes nationalizations easierhttp://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN1729156220101217
As visions of sugar plums dance through his head, only Barack Obama could possible appreciate the importance of such power usually reserved for fellow despots and aspiring dictators.
To fully recognize how we are now experiencing life in a parallel world, read this article and simply replace the name Chavez with Obama. Look at what has happened in your America over the past two years and you will see how very fragile freedom really is to you and your family.
* Banks must hand 5 percent of profits to social groups (already happening in the U-S)
* Part of package of laws strengthening Chavez control (no laws required--simply appoint like-minded hacks without pesky procedure of background scrutiny by irrelevant citizen elected legislature)
* Parliament due to give him decree powers for a year (Adds details of law, decree powers) (Not necessary, President already has control by executive power)
Embellished by Obiter Dictum
CARACAS, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Venezuela's parliament (US Congress) passed a bill on Friday making it easier for President Hugo Chavez (Barack Obama) to nationalize banks and trim their profits, part of a legislative onslaught to entrench socialism in the oil exporting nation (former industrialized exporting nation).
Later in the day, the National Assembly is also due to grant Chavez (Obama) powers letting him pass laws by decree for a year, a move criticized by opposition parties and the U.S. State Department as autocratic. (the government of Venezuela) For details see [ID:nN16274240].
The banking law creates stringent new operating rules that include forcing banks to hand over 5 percent of their profits every six months to community groups.
It also allows Chavez (Obama) to order the takeover of institutions that he deems problematic, a move previously made by the banking watchdog. Chavez (Obama) has increased the state's role in the sector this year, but a total takeover of banking is unlikely (likely).
"It adopts a group of measures to correct problems that have been produced in the banking sector at the cost of the government's objectives and the welfare of the nation," says the text of the measure approved in the early hours of Friday.
Chavez (Obama) has repeatedly threatened to nationalize any institution that fails to meet his objectives of ending "speculation" in banking and increasing credit to "productive" parts of the population.
Few analysts believe the socialist president plans to nationalize banks outright, but many say he could further increase the state's role in the industry. U.S.-based economists at IHS Global said last week that they believed the risk of nationalizations in the sector was now "very high."
In the past 12 months the government has taken over a dozen (a hundred) small failing banks and paid back deposits to most customers. Chavez (Obama) spent $1 billion (trillion+) last year on the local unit of Spain's Banco Santander (SAN.MC) (non-existent shovel-ready projects). All together, public banks make up about one-third of the industry.
Last week, Chavez (Obama) repeated his warning to banks that they should meet government-set lending targets or face takeover, and he specifically mentioned the local unit of Spain's BBVA (BBVA.MC), (all American citizen's assets) among others.
Once the law is signed by Chavez (Obama) and published in the government's Official Gazette (New York Times), banks' participation in the insurance industry and brokerages will be strictly limited.
Several of the banks that collapsed this year had overextended themselves with takeovers in the insurance sector, or were accused by the authorities of fraudulent activity in brokerages (however, no million dollar bonuses were withheld).
The law also stipulates that banks set up a fund worth 10 percent of their capital to pay for wages and pensions in the event of bankruptcy.
Banks are still profitable in Venezuela (The U-S), although a two-year long recession has tightened their margins. Analysts say the new law makes it harder, but not impossible, for them to operate successfully.

Amusing to observe how some conceited elites assume others view them, when in reality they actually appear to others as being someone completely opposite.
In Vladimir Putin we have a classic example of a 'man' who extends himself almost to the point of no return portraying himself as an icon of masculinity. When in reality, and regardless of how hard he may work at being 'butch,' others see him more as fitting into an afternoon Golden Girls coffee chat.
Good old Vlad is probably the biggest chariot queen who has circled The Great Sphinx of Egypt since Nefertiti tried to foist monotheism upon her husband Akhanaten.

Obiter Dictum blogged:
In the end, maybe there are some things easier to quit, other than smoking--cursing, complaining, giving up the Presidency of the United States--just to name a few.
Maybe just a few examples of New Years Resolutions contemplated by Barack Obama.

Probably no other airport in the world has more adolescent travelers, from all points on this planet, than Orlando International Airport in Florida. The Central Florida location is recognized as 'the theme park capital of the world.'
In February of 2004, an actor portraying the popular childrens character of Tigger, was accused, arrested and charged with 'lewd and lascivious molestation of a child between 12 and 15 years old and one count of simple battery.'
An account of the incident was reported in an April 4, 2004 edition of the Orlando Sentinal, written by staffer Anthony Colarossi. The original offering can be found here:
http://www.talkdisney.com/forums/td-archives/22310-tigger-arrested-molestation-charges.html#axzz17WsrF8N1 (Link not supported. Copy and Paste to read original article)
By substituting a few words in Colarossi's account of this incident, you can easily see why today's physical contact with young children by TSA agents are far more invasive and insidious than any innocent contact made by falsely accused Tigger.
My embellished version of Colarossi's story reads as follows:
'Orange County Sheriff's Office investigators have arrested a TSA employee who worked as an agent/inspector and charged him with molesting a 13-year-old girl and her mother while performing a search on them prior to their flight in February.
Handy Andy, 36, was charged with one count of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child between 12 and 15 years old and one count of simple battery.
He was booked into the Orange County Jail today on a $2,500 bond.
A TSA spokeswoman said Andy has been suspended without pay.
The sheriff's office received a complaint that a TSA agent at Orlando International Airport had touched a girl and her mother inappropriately while searching them prior to having their full body scan on Feb. 21. According to an incident report, Andy fondled the breasts of the girl and the mother, before their scan at the Orlando facility.
"As the scan was being administered, [the victim] claims that Andy moved his right hand up to her right breast and started massaging it several times," the incident report states. [The victim] became very embarrassed and ashamed of the incident and claims that she did not say anything to her mother until they arrived at the departure gate."
Later, the girl learned that the agent had done the same thing to her mother with his left hand, the report says.
In a charging affidavit filed in court, police wrote that Andy told them he had trouble remembering things, but was "very sorry for everything that had occurred," and hoped the victim would forgive him for what he had done.
The girl and her father reported the incident on Feb. 29.'

".....In an exclusive interview earlier this month, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange told Forbes that his whistleblower site will release tens of thousands of documents from a major U.S. financial firm in early 2011. Assange wouldn't say exactly what date, what bank, or what documents, but he compared the coming release to the emails that emerged in the Enron trial, a comprehensive look at a corporation's bad behavior. 'It will give a true and representative insight into how banks behave at the executive level in a way that will stimulate investigations and reforms, I presume.'....."
