Obama's latest attempt to insert himself into the Gun Control issue

Remember the last time Obama tried to appear relevant
 in gun-related issues?

February 2, 2013, an article appeared in the Washington Post featuring then President, Barack Obama skeet shooting at Camp David.

"On his 51st birthday last August, President Obama hit the links with a group of buddies and then flew by helicopter to Camp David. There, he changed into jeans and picked up a shotgun. And then, before it got too dark, he started a round of clay target shooting."

Obama's critics had a field day with mocking the Chief Executive following the release of photos showing his alleged newly found interest in 'skeet-shooting.'

The unlikely prospect of Obama picking up a gun and heading out back to do some 'skeeting,' didn't set well with skeptical reporters, who understandably suspected that the spectacle was more like a photo op to "rally public support behind his ambitious agenda to tighten gun laws."

Most observers will agree,  Obama's only real accomplishment in his war on gun rights in this country was to generated a massive increase in gun sales.

Very few gun rights proponents would disagree with Obama's desire to see stricter measures put in place curtailing weapons falling into the hands of certain categories of individual buyers.  Those found to be mentally incompetent obviously heads this list.  Underage buying also has become a more recent abuse.  But as we all know, even with the most rigid of regulations in place, if someone falling into either of these categories is intent on possessing a weapon, surely they will find an express pathway around the law.

As someone recently observed, “Only the law-abiding citizens comply with gun laws.  Criminals and terrorists neither comply with, nor care about, gun laws. They generally obtain their weapons illegally, anyway."

Common sense reasoning most likely will always lead to this same conclusion. We don't need additional laws. Simply start enforcing the over abundance of rules and regulation we already have on the books.
