But there were conflicting details over plans for a subsequent private session. One source told Fox News this week that the Democrats plan to have Mueller testify behind closed doors–yet it remained unclear whether Mueller himself would participate in that setting, or if his deputies would answer questions instead." FOX reports he will now appear before Congress one week later on Wednesday, July 24th.
Democrats, who chair the House Judiciary and House Intelligence committees, claim that Mueller's appearance is "to discuss the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and his findings in greater depth." But in the words of President Trump, "Robert Mueller is being asked to testify yet again,” he wrote. “He said he could only stick to the Report, & that is what he would and must do. After so much testimony & total transparency, this Witch Hunt must now end. No more Do Overs. No Collusion, No Obstruction. The Great Hoax is dead!"
Stay tuned, as this is a very fluid story with further possible changes or postponements occurring as all sides work to agree on particulars of the inquiry, or if Mueller will indeed eventually show up.
Besides, there are other insiders who believe that Mueller's advisers might be concerned about the hearings becoming an open end interrogation, where Republicans may use their time to question him about new developments in the Jeffery Epstein investigation, which dates back to a period when Robert Mueller was in charge of the FBI, and observers believing this will be an opportune time to question the former FBI agency chief, while the committee meets in open session with all remarks being instantly available, before a live media audience.
These same sources also believe, any answers given by Mueller surrounding the Epstein case might prove to be embarrassing to an entirely different group of well known politicians and celebrities, and not the committee's intended target...President Trump.
Could this be Mueller's next move?
