We first received news of Tony Rodham's passing in an online Twitter announcement from his sister, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
This sad news acknowledging Mrs. Clinton's loss of her younger brother was featured worldwide via major news services, and by countless information providers here in the United States.
A degree of mystery, mixed with an air of curiosity has surrounded this otherwise cursory news release, primarily due to a lack of usual details provided when someone with a line of public recognition passes.
As mentioned in an earlier article at our website, a remark made by one of Mister Rodham's close acquaintances indicated that Tony was not in the best of health. No details, however were offered by his friend.
Our search for further information, lead us to the George Washington University website, where we found this "Tony Rodham Obituary," published at the Rodham Institute area of that site.
The obituary is authored by Doctor Jehan “Gigi” El-Bayoumi, who is identified as Tony Rodham's personal physician, and serves as "Founder & Executive Director of the George Washington Rodham Institute-Professor of Mediciane, George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences."
Doctor El-Bayoumi addresses the statement to fellow colleagues stating, "It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Anthony
“Tony” Rodham. Tony was the youngest son of Dorothy E. Rodham, for whom
the GW Rodham Institute is named." The narration goes on to list personal and human interest facts, and it is not until the closing lines where we get a clearer picture of perhaps, why public details have been so vague.
The obituary statement concludes with these words, "I had the privilege and honor of being Tony’s physician. He was cared
for by an excellent health care team here at GW (George Washington) who all share with me in
mourning his passing. Of his care at GW, his sister Hillary said, “You
and the whole GW team earn a special place in heaven every day… We are
full of gratitude, affection, and respect. You gave him a chance to live
against long odds… and when it was clear no late reprieve was coming,
you made it possible for him to take his leave with dignity surrounded
by the family and friends who loved him.” Tony was warm and kind, with a ready smile and a joke to go along with it. We will miss his loving spirit."

We hope this updated information answers at least some of the many questions you have been asking. Obviously, family privacy should always be honored during these times of personal grief and mourning, but there is no excuse for a blatant lack of follow-up information on the part of those many news providers who left the public totally clueless following the initial announcement.
We expect better.
